Sustainable Harvesting of Dragons Blood
At The Animal Alchemist, we are dedicated to sourcing our ingredients in a manner that respects and preserves the natural environment. Our wound latex is harvested using traditional, sustainable methods that have been practised by Amazonian communities for thousands of years.
Licensed and Regulated Harvesting
We work exclusively with licensed exporters in Peru who operate under the strict regulations of SERFOR (Servicio Nacional Forestal y de Fauna Silvestre). SERFOR ensures that all harvesting activities are conducted sustainably and ethically, safeguarding the future of these invaluable natural resources.
Traditional Harvesting Methods
The Dragons Blood latex in all our products is harvested using ancient techniques that have been passed down through generations. The process involves making a small, controlled incision in the outer bark of the tree. This method, known as leaching, allows the latex to be collected without causing significant harm to the tree. Over time, the trees naturally heal from these incisions, often bearing multiple scars that tell the story of their resilience and the careful stewardship of the harvesters.
Commitment to Deforestation Awareness
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond our harvesting methods. We are acutely aware of the global issue of deforestation and its impact on ecosystems, biodiversity, and indigenous communities.
Supporting Reforestation Efforts
To counteract deforestation, we actively support reforestation initiatives in the Amazon. For every batch of Dragons Blood latex harvested, we contribute to 'Amazon Conservation' who plant new trees and actively protect the land, ensuring the continued health and growth of the forest.
Transparency and Accountability
Transparency is at the heart of our operations. We maintain open communication with our suppliers and regularly audit our supply chain to ensure compliance with our sustainability standards. Our customers can trust that every product they purchase from us is sourced responsibly and contributes to the well-being of the planet.
Please watch our how-to-use video above for a detailed demonstration of the application techniques.
Method One
1. Shake the bottle well, then apply 1-2 drops directly to the skin exposure and dab.
2. Prevent any licking until the latex has dried and the skin has settled.
